PRESS RELEASE
BONNIE RAITT DONATES SPECIAL SEATS INCLUDING
A POST-CONCERT
RECEPTION ON JUNE 23 TO BENEFIT LOCAL
ENVIRONMENTAL GROUP, NEIS
CHICAGO—The ever-popular musician/singer
/songwriter and activist Bonnie Raitt, will return to Ravinia on June 23rd.
The nine-time Grammy™ winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer will be making
the event an extra special occasion, as she has selected the local non-profit
environmental organization, NEIS as the beneficiary of special seating
and an after-concert private reception at Ravinia.
Nuclear Energy Information Service (NEIS)
of Chicago has been selected by Bonnie Raitt to be the local beneficiary
of the now famous “Gold and Silver Circle” benefit program, a philanthropic
hallmark of Raitt’s touring activities.
NEIS is an Illinois safe-energy advocate
and nuclear power watchdog organization. NEIS is a non-profit organization,
and celebrates its 25th anniversary serving the community on June 21st.
“NEIS is both flattered and proud to be
honored this way by someone as socially conscious and generous as Bonnie
Raitt,” says NEIS Director, Dave Kraft. “That Bonnie chose us on our 25th
anniversary makes this extra-special. The funds from this benefit event
will go a long way to support our programs on nuclear reactor safety and
security, and non-nuclear responses to global warming,” he notes.
As part of her tours, Bonnie Raitt donates
a quantity of select seats for every concert, the sale of which support
non-profit organizations working on environmental advocacy and social change.
More information about Raitt’s lifelong commitment to activism can be found
on her website: www.bonnieraitt.com
NEIS is the last remaining organization
in Illinois dedicated to working full time on the nuclear power issue.
Raitt was one of the original “MUSE” musicians – Musicians United for Safe
Energy – which formed to support a non-nuclear future in response to the
Three Mile Island accident back in 1979.
“We appreciate Bonnie Raitt’s long-standing
dedication to this issue of safer energy alternatives to nuclear power.
It stands in stark contrast to the lack of interest and awareness coming
from other areas of philanthropy,” Kraft notes. “We intend to make her
feel that her donation has been put to good use.”
The limited issue “Gold Circle” tickets
are available for $200, and includes perferred seating and attendance at
a private reception with Bonnie Raitt onsite after the June 23rd Concert.
“Silver Circle” tickets are available for $125, and are also prime seating,
but without the reception. Tickets can be ordered securely online using
Visa, Mastercard and American Express from www.Guacfund.org
